Gemma de Cordova is an experienced property litigator. She has a busy practice encompassing the full breadth of landlord & tenant and real property disputes. Her property expertise is complemented by instructions in a variety of commercial and chancery matters.
Gemma has extensive trial experience. She has won praise from solicitors and judges for her skills in cross-examination in particular and for her ability to handle unusual and often-unexpected issues that multi-day trials can throw up.
Clients often instruct Gemma because of her ability to engage well with both professional and lay clients at all levels of seniority. Due to her level of experience she is well placed to advise upon and deliver practical and commercial solutions for her clients.

Gemma’s practice encompasses property litigation in the County Court; First Tier Tribunal; High Court; and the Court of Appeal. Gemma undertakes advisory work and drafting in all of her areas of practice.
Gemma’s current caseload is diverse and includes: disputes concerning mixed-use developments; litigation under the 1954 Act; possession claims by mortgagees and issues of misrepresentation and undue influence; interpretation of service charge provisions in commercial leases; termination and exclusion clauses in commercial contracts; restrictive covenants; disputes concerning easements and rights of way; leasehold enfranchisement; succession under the Rent Act; and enforcement of judgments.
Complementary to her property law expertise, Gemma advises and represents clients in a range of contractual and commercial disputes. Gemma regularly contests all manner of procedural applications including those for strike out; summary judgment; setting aside default judgment; and security for costs.
