Tanfield Chambers – Chambers & Partners 2014

An unprecedented 17 members of Tanfield Chambers have been recognised as leading individuals in the Chambers 2014 rankings.

Tanfield featured most prominently in the Real Estate section in which 13 practitioners featured, with Daniel Dovar featuring for the first time and Nicola Muir added to Tanfield’s ranks. Andrew Butler, Christopher Heather and Tim Polli all went up in the rankings. Philip Rainey QC, Kerry Bretherton, Michael Buckpitt, Carl Fain, James Fieldsend, Ellodie Gibbons, Nicholas Isaac and Mark Loveday are again recognised as leading individuals.

Kerstin Boyd, of Tanfield Chambers’ Private Client Group, was recognised as a leading family law practitioner for her strength in financial remedy cases. Kerry Bretherton is described as a leading practitioner in Public and Administrative Law, in particular for her advocacy surrounding care home funding and matters related to housing and community care.

Stephen Monkcom continues to be recognised in Licensing, and Kerry Bretherton achieved a notable hat-trick with recognition in Social Housing, where she features with Rebecca Cattermole.

Iain Mitchell QC achieved a similar hat-trick with recognition in the fields of Intellectual Property, Information Technology and Public Procurement.

Chambers’ strength in Real Estate was also recognised in its Band 3 ranking, where we received praised for the approachability of our practitioners and our ability to turn work around quickly. Our clerks also received glowing praise, being described as a ‘pleasure to work with’ and as ‘helpful and importantly fair and reasonable when agreeing fees’.
