When dealing with misconduct, incorrect or inaccurate framing of the charge you put to the employee can cause real problems if the matter ends up in an employment tribunal.  This often gets missed as there is so much focus on getting the procedure right.  In this session Peter Linstead will provide:

  • Discussion on real life case study looking at how charges should be framed in practice

Conscious Uncoupling – A practical guide to the termination process

Stephen Heath’s webinar examines the practicalities concerning the termination of the employment relationship. It will consider the various ways in which a contract of employment or other working relationships can be terminated whether consensually or by dismissal. The webinar will give a brief overview on the law of unfair dismissal with practical guidance on how to carry out redundancy exercises, and dismissals of workers whose conduct or performance has been unsatisfactory with minimal risk.

A how to guide on implementing an effective grievance process

Grievances are often considered to be a point of no return in the employment relationship, but this need not be the case. In this webinar, Richard Alford will look at grievances from a litigator’s perspective, with the aim of giving practical advice on running an effective grievance process that resolves, rather than increases, conflict. Through worked examples and discussion, the webinar will consider the grievance procedure and what it should contain; the importance of being realistic about timescales; avoiding inadvertent victimisation; running investigations and grievance meetings; and feeding back outcomes. The webinar will include advice on how to run your grievance to reduce the risk of the issues raised turning into claims and, where such claims simply cannot be avoided, to reduce the risk of criticism by Tribunal.
