Personal Injury
The rapid developments in Personal Injury law in recent years have underlined the benefits of having access to a large and specialised team of PI counsel: it is essential to know that the advice you receive will be up-to-date and effective.
Tanfield's Personal Injury group is one of the largest in chambers, offering a wide range of experience and expert knowledge in every aspect of PI law, including clinical negligence. In addition to their extensive case experience, members regularly contribute to journals and textbooks on Personal Injury law and many write and lecture in specialist fields.
We undertake actions on behalf of both claimant and defendant; several members of the group can also handle Criminal Health and Safety Executive prosecutions. Claims handled vary from the routine to the very complex and members are experienced in the following areas:
- Accidents in the workplace
- Occupational diseases (e.g. asbestosis, asthma, dermatitis, deafness, RSI and stress)
- Product liability claims
- Major incident claims (including rail accidents)
Clinical negligence (birth accidents, brain and devastating injury, misdiagnosis and mistreatment of all kinds - including cosmetic surgery and dentistry) - Professional negligence (Limitation Act issues, solicitors' negligence related to PI actions, contractual claims arising from Permanent Health Insurance plans)
- Routine claims (tripping and slipping, RTA, CICA)
Tanfield's PI group prides itself on providing a prompt, effective service and value for money. Instructions and requests for advice are turned around quickly - by e-mail, if required - and the group has its own dedicated clerking team to ensure the best 'fit' for the brief. Members are always willing to travel for conferences and hearings wherever necessary.
