Family
In Family law, response times can often be critical. In cases where a Section 37 application is being considered, for instance - or where there is a threat of imminent child abduction - you need to be able to act quickly.
Tanfield's Family group is set up as a specialist team within chambers, enabling us to respond to urgent requests within hours, or even minutes. Advice and representation can be offered in all aspects of Family law. Recent examples of cases where our members have acted include the following:
- Mareva injunction to prevent a husband who had murdered his wife selling the matrimonial home and taking all the proceeds
- Care orders in the context of a minor who is charged with attempted murder of her child
- The distribution of assets between co-habitees on the winning of £1.3 million on the National Lottery
- A care case where there is a decision to be made between the claims of the natural mother in a third world country and the material and educational advantages of fostering in Britain
- An international child abduction case, where the Claimant is a Judge of a foreign jurisdiction seeking the return of a child who was the subject of orders made by him in his Court
- Contact cases involving hostile mothers and mentally unstable mothers - and cases where the father is alcoholic or drug-dependent
- The jurisdiction of the Child Support Act 1991 (for example, where artificial insemination is involved)
