Tanfield's commercial group is headed by two silks specialising in most aspects of mercantile and business law.The significant number of members of chambers, who practice in this field offer a wide range of skills, experience and fees to match your particular requirements. Our client base ranges from high street firms, through in-house lawyers to leading City solicitors. We pursue and defend actions in all divisions of the High Court and in the County Court.
Increasingly, commercial disputes are resolved by alternative means and members are equally adept at dealing with all types of arbitration and mediation and clients can consult the part of the website dealing with International Litigation and Dispute Resolution.
All areas of commercial practice are covered, especially international trade, joint ventures, banking, enforcement of judgments, tracing the proceeds of fraud, and cross-border and transnational disputes.
Members have been involved in numerous substantial and high profile actions and are experienced in drawing on the skills of other professions and disciplines - such as forensic accountants and computer experts - to develop the strongest possible position for our clients.
Commercial disputes often require urgent advanced preparation and pre-action applications to the court. This is where Tanfield's strength in depth really comes into its own. A team of barristers can be selected and assembled quickly to deal with all the issues arising on a substantial case - each looking after a particular aspect of the case and all working together cohesively as a unit. The demands of this kind of case often mean working at the solicitors' or clients' premises (and occasionally overseas) and members are always prepared to be flexible in delivering the level of service required.
