Profile

Stephen specialises in employment law and regularly appears in the Employment Tribunals, Employment Appeal Tribunal, County Court and High Court on employment-related matters. He acts for both Claimants and Respondents, from individuals and small companies and organisations up to very large-scale employers. He has, in particular, extensive experience of acting for local authorities for whom he has conducted numerous lengthy and complex multi-party hearings.


Stephen writes for a number of employment publications, including Lawtel, and has presented CPD-accredited seminars to solicitors and fellow barristers.  He undertakes work for the Bar Pro Bono Unit.

 

Experience

His wide-ranging employment practice includes unfair and wrongful dismissal, discrimination (all forms including equal pay, sexual orientation, religion or belief and age), victimisation (whistleblowing, trade union activity, health and safety disclosures), TUPE, working time, maternity and parental rights, directors' remuneration and severance, restrictive covenants, advising on internal disciplinary and capability procedures and contracts of employment.
